Veluthampi Dalawa Memorial

The museum, once completed, will be a fitting tribute to legendary freedom fighter Veluthampi Dalawa who was the minister of Bala Rama Varma Maharaja of the erstwhile Travancore kingdom, says local MLA, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan. He said that the museum was part of the Veluthampi Dalawa memorial project launched in 1994. The memorial has been designed in such a way as to inform the posterity about the heroics of Veluthampi, who made the supreme sacrifice for his motherland against the British, he said. Veluthampi had spent his last days at Mannadi where he had ended his life to avoid being humiliated by the British after leading a rebellion against them.
